If you have been joining me on this weeks "The Power of Colour" course, you will have already heard me speak about this but quite a few people have contacted me and asked me to share again, so here it is with a little bit of explanation. Please remember that as with everything this is just my opinion and a system that I have found works for me. Enjoy!!!!
For many people the journey to embracing spirituality in whatever form often begins as a result of difficult or traumatic circumstances in our lives, well it certainly was that way for me! We begin to look for alternative ways to regain some control or make a change and before you know it you are immersed in a beautiful and intriguing world. All too often though, with so much information and opportunities to learn new and fascinating skills, we can find ourselves plunging in head first without having done any of the really important and necessary groundwork. The most valuable piece of work we can do in the first instance, is the work that involves understanding ourselves and this will always be the most tricky.
The Self Power Triangle principle is a simple way to explain the relationship between our own individual journeys of learning and growth. In order for us to be fully empowered , we need a firm base from which to work and in this case we create this firm foundation through Self awareness and Self love, both of which are equal in importance. The Oxford English Dictionary's definition of self awareness is as follows "Conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires." Put simply, we need to understand what makes us tick, what our triggers are, our strengths and our weaknesses, our light and our shade. Every experience throughout our lives has built and shaped our characters, our reactions. our morals and our opinions. When we can effectively identify and recognise all of these in ourselves, we begin to experience true "Self awareness". The other very important element of creating this firm foundation is "Self Love". As we become more self aware, so will we be more aware not only of our gifts, talents and the things we like about ourselves but also our flaws, our challenges and the parts of character that we perhaps don't like. Self love in its purest form is acknowledging and more importantly embracing our whole self, warts and all. As we develop our self awareness, so must we develop our self love, we need to show ourselves compassion and kindness, understanding and patience. In creating this firm foundation and with the increased knowledge of ourselves, we create a position of Empowerment.
In the words of Francis Bacon "Knowledge is Power". Empowerment is the process we achieve as we become stronger and more confident in ourselves through a developed understanding, it enables us to have more personal power to be in control of our own life and to move forward in a way which is right for our highest good. It enables us to recognise and to redress imbalances and obstacles which create a lack of harmony within us.
The combination of the two elements, self awareness and self love, combined together create personal power which when effectively channelled creates a sense of empowerment which we can direct in a concentrated and dynamic way (the Triangle) to effect change and growth.
My final thought is to remind you that this is a journey and not a race. There are no short cuts or easy path. The road is sometimes rocky and can be painful but the rewards are many. Your journey is as individual and unique as you are and no two people will experience the same path. There is no wrong only what is right for you but it does require commitment, passion and an open mind. Like anything in life worth having, it takes time and work and in all honesty it never ends!!!
Love and Light
