With Spring apparently just around the corner and of course Valentines Day looming, in this weeks blog, I wanted to talk about how flowers and colour therapy can work in harmony.
Everyone loves flowers and there is nothing nicer than the feeling you get when you receive a beautiful bouquet or simply a hand picked bunch of flowers from the garden. There is a huge amount of scientific research that demonstrates the positive impact that flowers have on our physical and mental well being and for centuries, plants have been used to help keep our bodies healthy and to fight disease. But more than that, flowers really do have healing powers. They have the ability to lift our mood, inspire our artistic expression, transcend us through scent and of course, emit energy in the form of colour. This is the reason why they are used at important moments and during times of celebration to express joy and happiness, for example weddings and anniversaries; and why we also use them during times of mourning to ease the pain.
Use flowers in your home based on their colour to enhance your mood or help with your healing. Spend time meditating with them and connect with their energy. Gift a friend or relative a bouquet of carefully chosen blooms to help them overcome a challenge, lift their spirits or offer encouragement. Flowers are beautiful, natural healers!
Red Flowers
Vibrant, passionate and demanding to be noticed, red is the colour of love and romance. Red flowers symbolise courage, respect, constancy, admiration and, of course, desire. Red flowers boost energy levels. Red stimulates physical energy, confidence and courage, and promotes alertness – so whether you need the courage or confidence to finally tell someone how you feel, or to simply take control of tough choices or decisions in your life, red flowers are the perfect choice.

Orange Flowers.
No wallflower, here. Orange is bold, passionate and full of life. It’s no wonder that orange blooms speak of enthusiasm, excitement and exuberance. Orange, as one of the warmest tones, notably resembles the colour of the sunset – one of nature’s most calming and peaceful gifts. Helping to rebalance joy, optimism and wisdom, orange flowers can brighten the gloomiest days.

Yellow Flowers
Yellow flowers burst with happiness. They symbolise the bonds of friendship, the taste of success and pride. Joy is also one of the meanings of this flower, as that is one of the feelings the colour is said to evoke. Yellow inspires feelings of happiness and warmth – hardly surprising given our largest source of the colour is the sun. It also drives confidence, clarity and contentment – the perfect flower to treat someone you love who may be facing a new challenge, such as starting a new job.
Flower Choice: Chrysanthemum symbolises optimism and joy.
Green Flowers
Green flowers represent the optimism of renewal, of spring and of youthfulness. Green flowers in a bouquet are also a wish for good fortune and good health. As an earth colour, green is extremely grounding. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it helps to take us back to nature, such as the rolling countryside, lush woodlands and tropical rainforests. Its calming and peaceful nature aids in combating any anxious feelings, while stimulating love, balance and harmony in the body.
Flower Choice: Anthurium symbolises peace and positivity.
Blue Flowers
Peaceful blue is said to convey serenity and openness. A flower delivery of a bouquet containing blue flowers may be a sign to slow down, relax and release the stress. Blue is considered a calming colour, reflective of the sea and sky. Blue can help when seeking to reset a busy mind whenever life gets a little chaotic. Blue blooms help to stimulate mental clarity, creative expression and aspiration.
Flower Choice: Forget Me Nots symbolise unity and togetherness.
Purple Flowers
A royal colour, purple flowers symbolise dignity, tradition and success. A bouquet containing purple flowers can be symbols of admiration and adoration. Purple packs a punch. Full of life and energy, its extravagance helps to stimulate feelings of inspiration, creativity and calm. Unlike other colours, it cannot be directly linked to any of the core natural elements – so it has a sense of magic.
