Ch,ch,ch, changes......

Ok, so lets start with some tough talk! There are no two ways about it, change is hard! Change requires courage, consistency and commitment. Change can be scary, it can involve us letting go of people, places and things that have been a part of our lives for a long time. It can challenge us to confront things that we have hidden deep down within us, sometimes for a whole lifetime. But.....change can also be the most wonderful, liberating, empowering and life affirming experience. Change can bring us a sense of completeness, joy and can truly connect us with our soul purpose.

But how do you start and more importantly how to sustain it. The biggest challenge when we choose to make change is that often the old behaviours and thought patterns have become habit, as natural to us as breathing and breaking that habit can be a challenge. But that's all it is a challenge, something that you CAN overcome. Yes, it takes times and of course, you may find yourself occasionally slipping back into your old ways, the important thing is that you keep going. Think of it like walking a well trodden path. You can allow the grass to grow over the old path and then watch as a new path forms as you walk it everyday.

Here are a few simple steps to help you begin your journey.

  1. Get clear - What do you want to change?

Start by understanding exactly what it is that you want to change. Meditate, journal, do some deep dive investigation. Make sure you really understand what you want out of life and use that to identify what you need to change. Unless we have a clear idea of what we want to change, we will find it difficult to create a path to achieve it.

2. Create a vision- What will change look like?

Now that you know what you want to change, it's time to get creative. Connect with what you want the outcome to be when you make the change. Envision how your life will look. If it helps, create a vision board with pictures, words, whatever you feel represents where you are heading, Not only will this be a great way to check and test whether what you think you want to change is right for you, but this board will help keep you focused during your journey to change.

3. Consistency - How will you create new habits?

As we said, its changing the habits that is the most challenging part of change. So now is the best time to think about and recognise the how and the why of the behaviours and thoughts that you need to change and plan how you are going to address them when the inevitable triggers crop up. Think about what it is you want to do, think, feel differently and then support yourself by creating new positive habits that will support this.

4. Transformation - How will you feel?

And this is the fun bit, it's time now to start thinking, feeling and living as if these changes have already happened. Tune into how you are going to feel when you are living the life you love and connect with those positive emotions.

Love and light
