Advice from a Dandelion.

Hello,

The eagle eyed amongst you might have noticed a few changes for Soul Purpose over the last few weeks. My logo was created almost 3 years ago now (long before the actual business was born) and represented exactly where I was at the time and the direction I thought that my business might go. The last couple of years have been a huge learning curve for me in terms of what I offer and also more importantly what resonated with both me and my clients and so I decided it was high time for an update. Over the last few months, as I searched for something that felt right, dandelions kept cropping up. I sat with the idea and the more I thought about it, the more it felt that the story of the dandelion truly connected with what Soul Purpose is all about and the message that I wanted to convey. So today, I wanted to share with you some wise words from this seemingly unassuming flower that perhaps might resonate with you too.

Let's start with a question.....what is your first thought when you think of a dandelion? For many people, they simply see a weed, an annoying pest that spoils their lawn. We mow them, dig them up and spray them with weed killer and yet they are tenacious. If even the tiniest piece of root remains in the ground, the plant will grow back again. They are resilient and adapt to their circumstances, growing and thriving in even the tiniest crack in the pavement. It teaches us that no matter what challenges or obstacles we may face in life, with strong roots and determination, we can overcome anything that it throw at us. It also teaches the importance of choosing to adapt to our circumstances rather than seeing ourselves as a victim of them or simply giving up and allowing ourselves to be pushed aside.

A dandelion doesn't hide its natural beauty, its radiant yellow head is held high. Despite being labelled a weed and ignored in favour of its brighter, bolder and more accepted flower counterparts, it continues to shine. A dandelion knows its own worth and doesn't need external validation. It refuses to accept the labels placed on it by others but instead quietly and confidently goes about its business, knowing exactly what it's purpose in life is. You see from root to tip a dandelion is entirely edible, has long since been used in medicine and adds valuable nutrients to the soil, not bad for a lowly weed, hey? The dandelion teaches us that we do not have to subscribe to the labels and limiting beliefs that other people place on us. When we know our own worth and value, when we connect with our own inner power and confidence, we shine. It's no wonder that the dandelion is such a bright, vibrant yellow, the colour of our solar plexus and connection with our centre of personal power

Dandelions experience a constant evolution; from their beautiful golden head through to the white puffball, which then releases its seeds to repopulate again as its yellow blossom. The dandelion understands that change is necessary and doesn't fear it, it is simply part of life's great plan. It also recognises the importance of letting go for its continued growth and development.

Dandelions have many symbolic meanings. The yellow flowers are widely recognised as a symbol of hope, love and happiness as well as wealth and prosperity. The puffball seeds are recognised as meaning new beginnings, freedom, healing and growth. The dandelion clock has long been the symbol of wishes and hopes and most of us will have at some point in our childhood tried to tell the time by blowing on the heads and then watching as the seeds are carried off into the wind along with our wishes.

So really, it's all a matter of perspective. Some people look at a dandelion and simply see a weed, while others see its beautiful yellow face and look forward to making wishes with its fluffy seeds. It's all a matter of perspective and your attitude shapes everything, Choose to see the flower that grants wishes instead of the weed.

Love and light
